Many competitive systems are based on hanging items or even heavy cabinets on "Slatwall", solid panels with grooves for placement of fixtures that hold your objects. However...

Slatwall was originally developed for light weight display applications and is not suitable for many heavy objects, like bicycles, found in the garage.
In humid conditions, medium density wood fiberboard slatwall will absorb moisture, warp and loose strength.
Once a groove of slatwall is broken or cracked due to excessive loads, it can't be repaired...leaving a dangerous situation.
How do we know this? The owners of StorageTrak™ also own a display company, formerly owned a slatwall factory and have been selling slatwall to retailers since 1977. It's great for retail locations, but possibly the worst thing to use in garages with unprotected environmental conditions. Frankly, if we thought it was safe, we'd be selling it to you.
